Community Family Development center (CFD) is a vital part of the community and functions to serve a demographic that is often overlooked. We are non-profit organization and one of the largest day care centers in Poughkeepsie.
When the economy is shaky, children of low income families are often left behind. Basics needs such as food, clothing and child care can become increasingly difficult to come by.
The Department of Social Services has notified CFD of vast cutbacks as well as notifying families of a steep increase in their portion of the cost of care. Parents are coping with shrinking job opportunities, parents who are attending college classes can no longer afford to attend, and children who have little to eat now have less.
Without the continued support of our community and the existence of the Community Family Development Center, these families would surely fall through the cracks. We need your help.
